MLA Style for Media Citations

Page history last edited by Coral Garcia 11 years, 8 months ago

Audio-visual media

References to audio-visual media must include the following elements: name and function of the primary contributors (e.g., producer, director), date, title, the medium, location or place of production, and name of the distributor. For resources that are the result of a collaboration, MLA 7 allows you to begin your citation with the person most relevant to your research (writer, illustrator, director, etc.) or with the title of the work.

Undated Web site content, blogs, and data

For content that does not easily fit into categories such as journal papers, books, and reports, keep in mind the goal of a citation is to give the reader a clear path to the source material. MLA 7 no longer requires that a URL be given in the citation, but you may continue to include a stable URL in <brackets> for your readers' convenience. Include the author, document title, website title, any available publisher information, date published when available, and the date the resource was accessed.

The paranthetical citation consists of the communicator's last name only.
