Finding Books & DVDs:

 

CAVALOG is the library’s catalog.  CAVALOG  is used to find books, e-books, videos, DVDs and other materials.   Access points are word/phrase, author, title, subject, and series.  


Finding Articles (Secondary Sources): 

The periodical databases are available by selecting the Databases link on the Library's homepage. Use the A-Z list to find the database by name or use the English and Communications link to find the databases by subject.   News articles are available by selecting the News and Current Events subject link.

            Hint:  Limit by "document type" to film review, television review or video

            review.  Enter the title of the film in quotes.

Hint:  Use the Published Date option to limit search to a range of years.  

            Hint:  Limit your search to full text for more rewarding results.

 

Lexis Nexis    

Hint:  Select "News" tab. Under "Select Sources" choose "Book, movie, music, play & video reviews".

Hint:  Specify a date range.

 

MLA International Bibliography

            Hint: Good source for scholarly criticism of films and filmmakers. 

Hint: Use movie title or director's name.

 

Communication & Mass Media Complete and SocIndex             

Hint:  Limit your search to full text for more rewarding results.

Hint: Search the databases simultaneously by selecting the “Choose Databases” tab.

Hint:  Use the “Search History” tab to review/revise search results.

            Hint:  Use Advanced Search Option

Hint: Select the ‘SAGE Content Available to Me’ for full text results.

Hint:  To build a bibliography: check items from the result list then select the ‘Add to my marked citations’ bar.

To view marked list select the  ‘View/Edit My Marked Citations’ radio button and select‘Go’.
