Databases 

Databases are available by selecting the subject Psychology after choosing the Databases tab on the Library's homepage. 

 

Mental Measurements Yearbook  (MMY) is a comprehensive guide to contemporary testing instruments in psychology and education. MMY entries include the test purpose, publisher, pricing) and edited review(s) written by leading content area experts. The full text of the instrument is not included. 

 

Use keyword searching. Enter keywords and use the AND operator to find instruments. For example:

self image AND adolesc* [using truncation symbol * finds adolescence, adolescent, adolescents, etc.]

 

 

PsycINFO  can be used to find articles about specific instruments and to find articles which contain text of the actual instruments.   

 
Use the PsycINFO thesaurus to search for articles on various types of types, for example:
Aptitude measures

Performance tests
Personality measures
Employment tests
Intelligence tests
Inventories
Test construction 
 

Use the classification codes to limit to psychological instruments, for example:

Use keyword searching.  Enter the following keywords using the OR operator for example:

test OR assessment OR scale OR questionnaire OR measure OR survey

[use the AND operator to combine the above keywords with your subject area]  AND eating disorders

 

Use keyword searching.  To find articles which contain text of the actual instruments use the term 'appended', for example:

test OR assessment OR scale

AND self esteem

AND appended

 

Use the TM Tests & Measures field.  Enter your keywords and set the field to TM. For example:

self esteem or self concept IN [TM Tests & Measures] 

 

Use the TM Tests & Measures field to find articles which contain text of a particular instrument. For example:

Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale and appended IN [TM Tests & Measures] 

 

Use the Indexes function. 

Browse the Tests & Measures Index to find an instrument by title or to find instrument titles that contain  a particular keyword. Follow this path to use the Index function. 

From the top toolbar select [More] then [Indexes]

At [Browse for Index], select [Tests & Measures]

Enter a title or a keyword in the [Browse for] box. For example,  Rosenberg self esteem scale OR self esteem.

From the results list, check one or more of the boxes, then select [Add].   Your slected terms will be moved to a Search box at the top of the screen.

Select [Search]

 

PsycTESTS  provides citations, summaries, and some full text, for instruments in psychology, business, education, social science, and social work.  

 

Use keyword searching.  

For example type: internet and college students in the Look for search boxes.  

Use the Edit search link to change your search terms.

 

Search by Test Construct..   

Set the search field to Test Construct to do a targeted search on the psychological construct being measured.  For example:  self esteem
