Peer Reviewed Journals
A peer reviewed journal is a scholarly periodical which requires articles to be critically assessed by a panel of experts before they are accepted for publication. Peer review ensures that information is of the highest quality.
Definition of Empirical Research
Empirical Research is research based on actual observations. It is distinguished from something based only on theoretical or other abstract thinking processes. Empirical research normally starts with some a priori theory, which the researcher develops to try to explain and/or predict what happens in the real world. The purpose of the research is to test the theory and possibly refine it. For example, "Most well-educated people vote in national elections" is an empirical statement based on actual observations of voting behavior."
Qualitative and Quantitative Research
Qualitative research involves analysis of data such as words (e.g., from interviews), pictures (e.g., video), or objects (e.g., an artifact).
Quantitative research involves analysis of numerical data.
