  • Recent Research: 1999 to present: Autism, shyness, violence, substance abuse, phobias, group therapy, family therapy, play therapy, deliquency, medication for ADD/ADHD, depression, suicide, cognitive therapy, specific learning disability.
  • Historical Research: Trace the history of either theories or cause of a specific disorder or treatment plans for a specific disorder (autism-refrigerator mom).
  • Biological Perspectives on Psychopathology: What is the role of heredity in various types of psychopathology? What drugs are used to treat various forms of psychopathology? What is the significance of the discovery of neurotransmitters?
  • Comparitive Study: compare and contrast various theories of etiology and treatment, effectiveness rates of various types of therapy (Freudian vs. Social Learning vs. Behaviorism vs. Cognitivism).
  • Case Study: A case study of a child with a developmental disorder. This study will involve interviews of parents, child (if possible), teachers, home and/or school visit, detailed description of developmental history, educational history, behavioral history, treatment plus an inegration of readings, a final reflection.
  • Comparative Visits: Visit to a minimum of four facilities that treat a particular developmental disorder plus an integration of treatment readings.
  • An approved topic not addressed above.
